For Marines leaving active duty
WARFARE COMMAND

Plan your separation or retirement from the paragraphs that govern it.

Muster Out is a personal separation and retirement planner for Marines. Paste one message into Claude on your phone or computer and answer its questions. About 5 minutes later your board is up in your own Claude account, and each regulation task on it quotes its source paragraph.

Unofficial pilot. Muster Out adds no charge. Claude Pro costs $20 a month; setup works in a Claude chat on a phone or computer.

Setup is one message

Set up Muster Out for me. Read https://raw.githubusercontent.com/warfarecommand/musterout-release/main/SETUP.md and follow it.
  1. Paste it into a new chat in the Claude app, at claude.ai, or in the desktop app.
  2. Tap Publish when Claude asks to publish your private board.
  3. Answer the questions, then open the board link Claude gives you.

Muster Out

A personal separation and retirement planner for Marines.

Setup is one message in a regular Claude chat, on a phone or a computer. Claude checks the release files, publishes a private board to your account, and asks three required questions. About 5 minutes later the board holds dated tasks across up to seven lines of effort: separation, SkillBridge, VA and medical, Reserve affiliation (DAP), leave and pay, family and coverage, and turnover.

Covers
Resigning a regular commission, officer retirement, and separation at EAS, officer or enlisted. Enlisted retirement in part. DAP and SkillBridge as options.
Not covered
Medical separation and IDES, involuntary separation, and Guard and Reserve retirement. For these you get the office to call, not a plan.
Needs
Claude Pro costs $20 a month. You need Pro or higher; the Free plan cannot store board data. Use a phone or a computer.
Upkeep
The check files possible MARADMIN matches for your path and the lines of effort on your board. A new version installs from one message and keeps your board and data.
Data
Anthropic hosts the board in your Claude account. The maintainers have no account on it.
Example taskRET 01 SEP 2027
Submit the retirement request by unit diary
01 DEC 2026E-274, target

Planning target, not a deadline. MARADMIN 175/24 allows 18 to 6 months before the requested date. MCO 1900.16 para 2004.1 says 14 to 4 months. The board's 9 month target sits inside both windows.

MARADMIN 175/24, para 2"requests for retirement or resignation will be submitted not more than 18 months and not less than six months prior to the requested retirement or resignation date."
ConfirmIPAC and MMSR-2: confirm routing, submission date, the governing window and 120 days plus desired leave/PTAD before the requested action date.
Demo data for an officer retiring on 1 SEP 2027.

How Muster Out handles sources, dates, data, and review

01
The paragraph behind the task

Tasks drawn from a regulation carry the quoted paragraph and a link to the source: MCO 1900.16, MCO 1050.3J, NAVMC 1700.2B, the MARADMINs, the SkillBridge MOU, and the VA and TAP guides. The pack keeps a copy of each cited source, and a script checks every quote against those copies. The copies are snapshots, so open the official source for current wording.

02
Three kinds of date

A rule deadline is a date or window the cited text requires; it may depend on your separation date or another event. A planning target is a date selected for planning, and the board marks it as a target. Any window the cited regulation sets still governs. A confirmed event is a date you set after an approval or a booking. Change your date and every date counted from it moves with it.

03
Your account, your data

Anthropic hosts the board in your Claude account, under your login. The maintainers have no account on it, and the board sends them nothing. Chat setup sends nothing to the project. The only optional submissions, a setup count on the laptop route and lesson results, go to the project database if you say yes.

04
Review status

An independent model review checked every cited item against its source on 09 OCT 2026. Its corrections are in this release and were rechecked by a second review. No office has approved the pack; confirm what applies to you with IPAC, your TAP counselor, your VSO, and your command.
